For the first time on DVD, USA Wrestling is offering six exciting competitions for wrestling fans to own in their collection. The series, called Matches from the Vault Volume 1, offers video of some of the best international wrestling action from 1988 to 1997.

"This DVD series is a must for everybody within wrestling," said Gary Abbott, USA Wrestling's Director of Communications. "Each of these competitions stand out as among the most exciting and historic events of the modern era. Wrestling fans can enjoy spectacular action from the greatest wrestlers in the world. Wrestling and coaches will be able to study the most effective techniques used by our sport's masters. Make sure to add Matches from the Vault to your DVD collection today."

Matches included on the DVDs are:

USA vs. Soviet Union (1988) - This dual meet was held in Tempe, Ariz. and was the first time that the United States defeated the Soviet Union in one of these exhibition dual meets. A large crowd came out to support the U.S. freestylers. Big U.S. wins came from Randy Lewis, Rico Chiapparelli and others.

USA vs. Russia in the World Cup (1997) - Held in Stillwater, Okla., this was the first time in the history of the World Cup where the U.S. team was able to shut out Russia, winning every single match in the dual meet. The U.S. lineup included Lou Rosselli, Kendall Cross, John Fisher, Townsend Saunders, Pat Smith, Kevin Jackson, Mike Van Arsdale and Bruce Baumgartner.

The 1989 World Grand Championships - This was the first major "prize money" event in international wrestling, with the best wrestlers from the world facing the top athletes from the United States in challenge matches. Held in front of record crowds in Pittsburgh, Pa., the feature bout was between Olympic champions John Smith and Sergei Beloglazov. Among the other key bouts was between Kenny Monday and Nasyr Gadzhikanov.

USA vs. Soviet Union in the Goodwill Games (1990) - The Goodwill Games, a major multi-sport event with many of the world's greatest athletes, was held in Seattle, Wash in 1990. Big wins by Cory Baze, Zeke Jones and Joe Melchiore got the momentum going, and the victory was sealed by Bill Scherr.

The Best of Barcelona DVD features 1992 Olympic champions John Smith, Kevin Jackson and Bruce Baumgartner, as well as slow motion footage and video narration. The United States had one of its strongest teams in history, and this DVD documents the stars and their performances.

The Best Techniques of the 1991 World Champions features World Champions Zeke Jones, Smith and Jackson. Held in Varna, Bulgaria, this competition included some of the top wrestlers in freestyle history, and some outstanding action.

Matches from the Vault can be purchased for $99, with free shipping if purchased within the United States. Single DVDs are not available.
