For the first time ever, the Western Junior Regional competition will feature a Junior Women’s division. The Western Junior Regional Women’s competition will be held in conjunction with the U.S. Open in Las Vegas, Nevada on April 17 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

The Western Junior Regional Women’s weigh-ins will be at 10 a.m. on Wed., April 17 and the competition will take place at 3:00 p.m. that day and will go until conclusion.

The competition will be held alongside the Western Junior Regional Greco-Roman competition on April 17. The Western Junior Regional men’s freestyle wrestlers will compete on Thurs., April 18 and Fri., April 19.

Weight classes for Junior Women are (in pounds): 97, 105, 112, 117, 121, 125, 130, 139, 148, 159, 172 and 198. Athletes must have been born on or after September 1, 1993, are currently enrolled in grades 9-12 and be current USA Wrestling members to be eligible to compete.

Visit the event website for more eligibility requirements.

This event offers a great opportunity for high school women athletes to test themselves against talented high school girls, and also help them prepare for the upcoming Body Bar Women’s Nationals and the ASICS/Vaughan Junior & Cadet Nationals later in the season.

Those who would like to compete against boys could also enter the men’s freestyle and/or Greco-Roman divisions of the Western Junior Regionals. Those who are 17 years old or above in 2013 could also enter the U.S. Senior Open for Women.

For those who choose to stay all week to watch the U.S. Senior Open, they can witness the nation’s best Senior athletes compete from April 18-20.

This year, there is an exciting new opportunity concerning hotel reservations and entry fees. Participants in all five USA Wrestling tournaments in Las Vegas will receive their event registration fee at half price if they book their hotel room through VEGAS.com. You must go through the USA Wrestling event website first to get the proper location on Vegas.com and receive a discount code for registration. This is a tremendous value for all who use this option.

VEGAS.com offers extremely low prices at a large variety of hotels in Las Vegas and offers a price guarantee. If you can find a lower price at that hotel property somewhere else, VEGAS.com will match the rate.

YOU MUST BOOK A ROOM THROUGH VEGAS.COM FIRST IN ORDER TO RECEIVE A DISCOUNT CODE TO USE LATER FOR TOURNAMENT REGISTRATION. Do not go directly to Vegas.com to book your room. Use the link on the USA Wrestling event websites to Vegas.com to order your room and receive the discount code for event registration.
