Esposito named TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week

Zack Esposito (Three Bridges, N.J./Oklahoma State) has been named TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week for the week of January 11-17. Each week, TheMat.com will select an Athlete of the Week, based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling, from youth programs through the Senior level. Esposito helped Oklahoma State to wins over Michigan State, 28-9, and rival Iowa, 26-12 with two victories at 149 lbs. Against Michigan State, Esposito defeated 2004 NCAA Championships qualifier Darren McKnight 14-4. The win clinched a dual meet victory for the Cowboys. In the win over Iowa, Esposito came away with a 2-1 tiebreaker victory over two-time NCAA Championships qualifier Ty Eustice. The win gave the Cowboys their third straight victory in the dual meet, and shifted momentum towards Oklahoma State. Esposito has qualified for two NCAA Championships, placing second last year at 149 lbs. He is currently 16-0 this season and 74-7 in his career. His .914 career winning percentage currently ranks as the ninth highest in Oklahoma State history. Esposito, a junior, is majoring in Social Studies Education.
