Edinboro's O'Meara named EWL Wrestler of the Week

The EWL "WRESTLER OF THE WEEK" for the week ended January 21, 2001 Kevin O'Meara of Edinboro University Our Eastern Wrestling League "Wrestler of the Week" for the week ended January 21, 2001, is Edinboro University senior KEVIN O'MEARA, from Weymouth, MA. As everyone in the national wrestling community knows, for the past two years, nationally ranked Josh Pearce has been Edinboro's heavyweight. Mr. O'Meara, however, earned the starting position for the NWCA National Duals, by recording two mid-January wrestle-off wins in the room over Mr. Pearce. O'Meara made the most of his opportunity to start, by reeling off three big wins for the Scots at the National Duals (held last weekend at Penn State). Kevin scored a 21-6 tech fall against the University of Iowa's Randy Fulsaas, beat his Virginia Tech opponent 4-0, and also shut out Oklahoma University's Shane Zajac by a score of 5-0! Congratulations to Kevin O'Meara, our EWL Wrestler of the Week. Also, we take this opportunity to give a tip of the headgear to both Edinboro and their head Coach Tim Flynn, and to Virginia Tech and head Coach Keith Mourlam, for vigorously representing our Eastern Wrestling League at the prestigious National Duals. Thank you and well done!
