Note: To nominate a wrestler for TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week, send the athlete's name, accomplishments for the week and career accomplishments to John Fuller at jfuller@usawrestling.org Spenser Mango (Flourissant, Mo./USOEC/Gator WC) has been named TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week for the week of May 24-30. Each week, TheMat.com will select an Athlete of the Week, based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling, from youth programs through the Senior level. The announcement will be made each week on Wednesday. Mango won the University World Team Trials and FILA Junior World Team Trials, both in Greco-Roman, at 55 kg/121 lbs. this weekend in Colorado Springs, Colo. In the University division, Mango was the defending national champion. In the best-of-three Championship Series, he defeated Ricardo Osorio of the U.S. Air Force in two matches. Mango won the first bout, 7-0, 2-0, and the second match, 2-3, 6-0, 4-0. In the FILA Junior division, Mango downed Ryan Hall of the U.S. Marine Corps in the best-of-three Championship Series. In the first match, Mango won, 7-0, 6-0. Mango downed Hall in the second bout, 1-0, 6-0. Mango is enrolled in the U.S. Olympic Education Center (USOEC) Greco-Roman wrestling program at Northern Michigan University. Click here to view previous Athletes of the Week
