Olympic silver medalist defeated in first week of Iranian Professional League



Tehran, Iran - In what was mostly an uneventful first week of the Iranian Professional League last weekend, 2004 Olympic silver medalist Masud Mustafa Jokar, competing for Pas, was defeated 0-1, 3-1, 1-1 by 2005 Junior World silver medalist Nasrolah Fadaei of Rah Ahan at 66 kg/145.5 lbs.

Jokar was competing up from 60 kg/132 lbs. where he won his silver medal, but even with the defeat, his team still downed Rah Ahan 16-14 in the dual meet.

In another match that excited the fans in Tehran, Iranian World Team member Fereydon Ghanbari of Rah Ahan lost to 2005 Asian Champion Saeed Ebrahimi of Pas, 1-0, 1-0.

In another close dual meet, Tamin Ejtemayi dfeated Isfahan, 16-14. Isfahan took the early advantage in the dual meet, winning the first three bouts, but Tamin Ejtemayi won four of the next five matches to seal the win. Alireza Soleimani and Touraj Kafaei sealed the win for Tamin Ejtemayi with wins at 96 kg/211.5 lbs. and 120 kg/264.5 lbs., respectively.

The other three dual meets in week 1 were not as close.

Joybar loleh defeated Javanan, 22-7, Payam Ertebatat downed Mehregan, 20-10 and Naft took down the Army Team, 22-9. Both Joybar loleh and Naft won seven of the eight bouts. Payam Ertebatat won six of eight individual matches.
