The 2006 Junior Dual National Championships will be moved to Oklahoma City, Okla.

The 2006 Junior Dual National Championships will be moved to Oklahoma City, Okla.

The competition will be held June 27 - July 2 at the Freede Activity Center on the campus of Oklahoma City University. The address there is 2501 N. Blackwelder, Oklahoma City, OK 73106.

In 2005, the Junior Dual National Championships were held at the Chisolm Trail Coliseum. Enid hosted the Junior Dual National Championships for four straight years.

The tournament director for the Junior National Duals is Archie Randall, who was recently named as the head coach for the new college wrestling team at Oklahoma City Univ. Randall also serves at the State Chairperson for USA Wrestling in Oklahoma.

The contact information for Archie Randall has changed. He can be reached via e-mail at arandall@okcu.edu or via phone at 405-208-5379.

"We feel this is a very positive step for the Junior Duals. This takes the event to a larger metropolitan area with more choices of hotels and restaurants," said Pete Isais, USA Wrestling Events Director. "We are also excited that there is a new wrestling program at Oklahoma City University."

The complete schedule for the tournament is being finalized shortly and will be posted on TheMat.com when available.

The Junior Dual National Championships were established to create an opportunity for athletes to compete on their state teams in a dual meet format. The event, which consistently draws the best teams and individual talent from around the country, provides a great opportunity for wrestlers to face top competition weeks before the Junior National Championships.

Only two states have hosted this popular event, Illinois and Oklahoma. The competition was initiated in Illinois, and has been held in sites in Oklahoma for the last eight years.

The defending Junior National Duals champions in freestyle is Iowa, and the defending Junior National Duals champion in Greco-Roman is Minnesota.
