2006 Veterans World Championships in both styles will now be held in Riga, Latvia

FILA, the international wrestling federation, has announced that both of the Veterans World Championships in 2006 will be held in the city of Riga, Latvia. The Veterans World Championships are for wrestlers who are 35-years old and above.

The Veterans Freestyle World Championships will be held in Riga, Latvia, August 4-6, as previously announced by FILA.

The Veterans Greco-Roman World Championships have recently been moved to Riga, Latvia on September 8-10.

Previously, the Greco-Roman competition this year was scheduled to be held in Tehran, Iran.

There is no pre-qualification required for athletes to participate in the Veterans World Championships in either style. However, all U.S. wrestlers who wish to participate must register for the tournaments through USA Wrestling, which provides the official roster to the event organizers.

For information on competing in the Veterans World Championships, contact Dave Bennett of USA Wrestling at 719-598-8181 or via e-mail at dbennett@usawrestling.org.

In addition, information on the Veterans Worlds will be available for athletes who compete at the Veterans National Freestyle and Greco-Roman Championships in Las Vegas in April.
