Brandon Slay and Jim Miller to conduct NCAA/NWCA Clinic at NCAA Championships



Olympic champion Brandon Slay and Wartburg College Head Coach Jim Miller will be the featured clinicians at the 2001 NCAA/NWCA Coaches Clinic in conjunction with the NCAA Division I Championships at the University of Iowa. The clinic will be held on Saturday, March 17 after Session five which will be approximately from 10:45 A.M. -12:30 P.M. at the recreation building. The recreation building is located one block from the arena. Brandon Slay claimed a gold medal at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games at 167.5 pounds, the top performance of all U.S. freestyle wrestlers. He was a 2000 U.S. Nationals champion, and won a gold medal at the 2000 U.S. Olympic Team Trials. He is believed to be the first native Texan to qualify for a U.S. Olympic freestyle team. Slay placed second in the NCAA Div. I Championships on two occasions, competing for the Univ. of Pennsylvania. He is originally from Amarillo, Texas. Jim Miller is the head coach of Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. Coach Miller has lead the Knights to three NCAA Division III Championships and has been honored as National Coach of the Year four times. He has had a career dual meet record of 150-20 in his head coaching tenure. Miller competed for the University of Northern Iowa where he was a two time Division I All-American. The NCAA/NWCA Coaches Clinic is free to all NWCA members. For non-members a membership booth will be set up to register at that time. For more information call the NWCA at 717-653-8009.
