Cornell College’s Mike Duroe named U.S. coach for Pan Am Games

MOUNT VERNON, Iowa - Cornell College head wrestling Coach Mike Duroe has been named one of the coaches for the U.S. team for the Pan American Games on July 13-29 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Duroe has been the World Team Coach for the U.S. team the past two years and was one of the coaches at the Pan American Games four years ago in the Dominican Republic.

In two seasons at Cornell, Duroe has compiled a record of 29-17-1 and owns the top two dual winning totals in school history (15-9-1 in 2005-06 and 14-8 in 2006-07). The Rams have had three All-Americans during the past two seasons.

The wrestling competition at the XV Pan American Games is set for July 24-28 with the men's freestyle wrestling competition on July 27-28.

Wrestling is one of 37 sports featured at the games. More than 5,000 athletes from 42 countries are expected to compete. The U.S. men's and women's roster will be decided from results at the U.S. World Team Trials on June 9-10 in Las Vegas.
