Brad Vering- (Colorado Springs, Colo./New York AC) was named Wrestler of the Week for May 15-21. He won the Pan American Championships Greco-Roman title at 84 kg/185 lbs. on Friday, May 18 in San Salvador, El Salvador. Vering just made his fourth U.S. World Team in Greco-Roman. Athlete of the Week #2
Derrick Yant (Delta, Ohio/Delta High School) was named Wrestler of the Week for May 8-14 He won 171-pound titles in freestyle and Greco-Roman at the Central Junior Regional Championships on May 12-13 in Indianapolis. Athlete of the Week #3
Ryan Churella (Ann Arbor, Mich./New York AC) was named Wrestler of the Week for May 1-7. Churella landed a spot in the U.S. World Team Trials by winning a Northern Plains Regional freestyle title on Saturday, May 5 in Waterloo, Iowa. Athlete of the Week #4
Harry Lester (Akron, Ohio/Gator WC/USOEC) was named Wrestler of the Week for April 17-23. Lester, a 2006 World bronze medalist in Greco-Roman wrestling, returned to his hometown of Akron, Ohio to compete at the University National Championships held at the University of Akron. Lester not only won a gold medal in the Greco-Roman competition, as many expected, but he also won a gold medal in freestyle, a style he has not competed in for about four years. Lester just made his third straight U.S. World Team in Greco-Roman.
