Clarissa Chun named TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week for June 1-8

Clarissa Chun (Colorado Springs, Colo./Sunkist Kids) has been named TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week for June 1-8.

Each week, TheMat.com will select an Athlete of the Week, based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling, from youth programs through the Senior level.

Chun captured the U.S. World Team Trials women's freestyle title at 48 kg/105.5 lbs. on May 31 at the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Chun took two straight matches from Alyssa Lampe in the best-of-3 final round series to qualify for the World Championships on Sept. 21-27 in Herning, Denmark.

Chun, a 2008 World champion and 2008 Olympian, pinned Lampe just 17 seconds into their second bout to make her third straight World-level team and fourth overall.
