Iran defeats Russia 21-10 in Session III of the 2001 World Cup

Winning six of the eight bouts, Iran defeated Russia 21-10 in the third session of the 2001 World Cup. Iran won the first three bouts of the match. At 119 pounds, 1998 World bronze medalist Golam Reza Mohammadi of Iran decisioned Alexandre Kontoev, 3-0. Masoud Mostafa Gokar of Iran decisioned Murat Ramazanov of Russia at 127.75 pounds, 6-5. Ramazanov placed eighth in the 2000 Olympic Games. At 138.75 pounds, 2000 Olympic champion Ali Reza Dabir of Iran pinned Miron Dzadzaev at 5:38. At 152 pounds, Iskhak Boziev of Russia decisioned Mehdi Baraati of Iran, 6-2 Mehdi Arbarnejad of Iran decisioned Inal Dzagourov at 167.5 pounds, 11-3 to add up the points for Iran. At 187.25 pounds, 1996 Olympic champion Khadjimourat Magomedov for Russia decisioned Ahmad Ahekofteh, 2-1 in overtime. 1998 World champion Ali Reza Heidari decisioned Taimouraz Tiguiev, 3-1 at 213.75 pounds. At 286 pounds, Ebrahim Mehraban of Iran decisioned Nikolai Telegin, 4-1.
