Nick Marable named TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week for Oct. 5-11

Nick Marable (Columbia, Mo./Unattached) has been named TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week for October 5-11.

Each week, TheMat.com will select an Athlete of the Week, based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling, from youth programs through the Senior level.

Marable won a bronze medal at the Ramzan Kadirov Cup of freestyle wrestling this past weekend in Grozny, Russia.

Marable defeated Samuel Imeksuyan of Russia, 1-0, 0-2, 1-0 in the bronze-medal bout at 74 kg/163 lbs. He finished with a 4-1 record in the tournament. His only loss was in the second round to eventual champion Muslim Dudaev of Russia, 0-1, 0-4.

For Marable, a two-time All-American for Missouri, it was his first major international freestyle medal.

Note: To nominate a wrestler for TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week, send the athlete's name, accomplishments for the week and career accomplishments to Craig Sesker at csesker@usawrestling.org
