Empire WC wins National High School Beach Duals with 5-0 record



ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Empire Wrestling Club finished with a perfect 5-0 record to win the team title at the National High School Beach Duals on Sunday.

The club is based in the Brockport, N.Y. area and surrounding communities.

In the key dual meet of the day, the Empire WC edged Team Ontario from Canada, 5-4, in their fourth-round showdown.

Empire opened the dual with four straight wins from Iqbal (103), Peters (120), M. Requa (130) and J. Requa (140). Team Ontario came back with three straight wins from M. Jagas (150), Bradford (170) and Lowe (190). Empire clinched the win at 215 pounds, when Kozub defeated Kim, giving them their fifth win of the dual.

Team Ontario finished with a 4-1 record, beating the other four teams in the complete round-robin format. Titan Worldwide II placed third with a 3-2 record. The top three teams received medals for their athletes and a trophy to display in their club.

Titan Worldwide I was the defending champion at this event.
