Shawn Bunch named TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week for Nov. 22-28

Shawn Bunch (Columbus, Ohio/Gator WC) has been named TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week for Nov. 22-28.

Each week, TheMat.com will select an Athlete of the Week, based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling, from youth programs through the Senior level.

Bunch won a freestyle title at 60 kg/132 lbs. during the Henri Deglane Challenge on Saturday in Nice, France.

Bunch opened with a 9-2, 6-0 win over Alexandre Borg of Romania before defeating 2006 World silver medalist Mike Zadick of the U.S. 2-1, 1-1 in the semifinals. In the championship finals, he defeated Anton Ivanov of Russia 1-0, 1-0.

Bunch made the U.S. World Team in 2009. He finished second at the U.S. World Team Trials in 2010 and 2011.
