Matt Correa named TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week

Matt Correa (Santa Maria, Calif./Cuesta College) has been named TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week.

Each week, TheMat.com will select an Athlete of the Week, based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling, from youth programs through the Senior level.

Correa was named Outstanding Lightweight Wrestler after winning a title at the Meathead Movers Invitational on Saturday in San Luis Obispo, Calif.

Correa defeated Silverio Esparza of West Hills 3-2 in the 125-pound finals.

Correa, a sophomore at Cuesta College, is 18-1 this season. He also won the Sacramento City Tournament.

Special thanks to John Sachs of Tech-fall.com for providing the information and photo.

Note: To nominate a wrestler for TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week, send the athlete's name, accomplishments for the week and career accomplishments to Craig Sesker at csesker@usawrestling.org
