Special assistance program set for Senior athletes for FILA licence fees for international events in USA

USA Wrestling has established a special assistance program for those Senior-level athletes who wish to compete in the FILA international events held in the United States, to help cover the cost of the required FILA license.

FILA has required that all participants in FILA international events which appear on the FILA calendar must hold a current FILA license. This includes the three FILA Senior events held in the USA – the Dave Schultz Memorial International, the Sunkist Kids International and the New York Athletic Club International.

Those who can not enter these events because of the cost of the FILA license but intended to compete can request that USA Wrestling assist by covering the cost of the license. This would be for athletes who do not expect to compete abroad this year, but wish to participate in the FILA events hosted in the USA.

The cost of a FILA license is between $100-$120 (depending upon exchange rate) if purchased in advance online through USA Wrestling, but can be double if they are purchased on site. All U.S. athletes are encouraged to get their licenses in advance.

Those seeking special assistance with their FILA license fee for the Dave Schultz Memorial should immediately contact National Teams Director Mitch Hull at mhull@usawrestling.org or through the USA Wrestling switchboard at 719-598-8181.
