MANHEIM, Penn. – The annual NWCA Coaches Clinic, run in conjunction with the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championship Fan Festival, will take place on March 23 and will be headlined by 2012 Olympic bronze medalist Coleman Scott and legendary Wartburg University Coach Jim Miller.
The clinic will take place on the final day of the NCAA Championship competition at 2:30 p.m. and will end at approximately 4:15 p.m.
The Fan Fest Main Stage, in Hy-Vee Hall at Iowa State University in Des Moines Iowa, will serve as the venue for the clinic.
Scott and Miller were selected to instruct the clinic in efforts to fulfill the purpose of helping to educate coaches and wrestling fans alike, by bringing in two of the top names in wrestling.
Scott was a member of the 2012 London Olympic team and wrestled his way to the podium and the bronze medal in the 60 kg freestyle competition.
Prior to making the Olympic team, Scott, a Pennsylvania native, was a four time All-American and former NCAA Champion at Oklahoma State.
While Miller too wrestled collegiately, for the University of Northern Iowa where he amassed a 128-22 record and two Division II NCAA Championships, he has recorded his most notable success in his 37 years as a coach, 22 of which have been spent at Wartburg.
Miller is a member of six athletic halls of fames, has won nine Division III team championships, 20 consecutive Iowa Conference Championships and six NWCA National Dual Meet Championships. Miller’s career record was 394-34 prior to the beginning of the 2012-2013 season.
In his career Miller has served as the coach for 34 National Champions, 138 All-Americans and 70 NWCA Academic All-Americans.
Miller will officially retire as the commander of the Wartburg squad at the end of this season with a career record of 404-34, and a legacy that will continue to shape the program well into the future.
