Kenny Anderson named TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week

Kenny Anderson (Billerica, Mass./Wartburg College) has been named TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week.

Each week, TheMat.com will select an Athlete of the Week, based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling, from youth programs through the Senior level.

Anderson captured the 133-pound title to lead top-ranked Wartburg College to the team title at the NCAA Division III Championships on Saturday in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Anderson downed Grant Sutter of Wisconsin-Whitewater 9-1 to cap an unbeaten season.

The junior won his second straight NCAA title after earning the 125 crown last year.

Anderson and his Knights teammates sent retiring coach Jim Miller out with a record-tying 10th national team title.

Note: To nominate a wrestler for TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week, send the athlete's name, accomplishments for the week and career accomplishments to Craig Sesker at csesker@usawrestling.org
