Western Kids Open and Folkstyle Showdown to take place in conjunction with U.S. Open in Las Vegas, Nev. April 18-20

Two exciting events for youth wrestlers will be held in Las Vegas, Nev. April 18-20 during the 2013 ASICS U.S. Open.

The first event is the 2013 Western Kids Open from April 18-19, featuring freestyle and Greco-Roman Pee Wee, Bantam, Intermediate, Novice, Schoolboy/Girl and Cadet competitors.

April 18 will feature Greco-Roman wrestlers while freestyle will compete the following day, April 19.

The second event is the Las Vegas Folkstyle Showdown, open to Pee Wee, Bantam, Intermediate, Novice, Schoolboy/girl, Cadet and Junior wrestlers. This event will take place on Saturday, April 20.

The registration for these events will cost $20 per style if registering online or $30 if registering on-site.
To register online for the Western Kids Open and/or Folkstyle Showdown, click here. Registration will be capped at 500 wrestlers per style. All coaches and wrestlers must have current USA Wrestling memberships.

If Cadet and below wrestlers wish to participate in both the Western Kids Open in freestyle and the Folkstyle Showdown, they need only weigh-in for the Western Kids Open if they pre-register for the Folkstyle Showdown. Cadets and below can register for all three events at same time.

Also happening in Las Vegas on April 16-20 will be the Las Vegas/ASICS U.S. Open, the ASICS Junior National Championships, the Veterans National Championships, the Western Junior Regional and the U.S. Grappling World Team Trials. Click here to find out more about these events.

5:00-6:00 p.m. – Weigh-ins, Greco-Roman (good for both events if both events are entered and wrestled)

Thursday, April 18
7:00-8:00 a.m. – Weigh-ins, Greco-Roman (good for both events if both events are entered and wrestled)
9:00 a.m.-Completion – Greco-Roman competition
5:00-6:00 p.m. – Weigh-ins, Freestyle (only if wrestler didn’t compete in Greco-Roman)

Friday, April 19
7:00-8:00 a.m. – Weigh-ins, Freestyle (only if wrestler didn’t compete in Greco-Roman)
9:00 a.m.-Completion – Freestyle competition

At Las Vegas, Nev., April 20

Event Schedule

Friday, April 19
7:00-8:00 p.m. – Weigh-ins (If pre-registered and competed in freestyle, freestyle weight will carry to this event; only Juniors or new entries need to check in)

Saturday, April 20
9:00 a.m.-Completion – Folkstyle competition
