Benefit for injured Pennridge wrestling coach set for July 21 in Perkasie, Pa.

Perkasie, Pa. – Pennridge Wrestling Rams are hosting a Bird & Beer Horseshoe Benefit on Sunday, July 21 from 1:00-6:00 p.m. at The Perkside Owls Nest.

The proceeds from the event will benefit Pennridge volunteer wrestling coach Ron Zukley who suffered a severe spinal cord injury this spring while coaching. The injury left Zukley completely paralyzed from the neck down, but he is now miraculously recovering. However, the injury has been a huge burden financially, so the Pennridge wrestling community is coming together to help Zukley through these though times.

“Ron is the kind of guy who everyone likes immediately, his free spirit, sense of humor and confidence throughout this battle is truly inspiring to everyone in our wrestling community here at Pennridge, none more so than the kids he has coached,” Pennridge High School wrestling coach RP Norley said. “Ron is an amazing man, role model and friend and is definitely one of my mentors. Those of us at Pennridge who know him well are all better for it.”
Zukley’s wrestling background has helped him immensely in his road to recovery.

“Ron's doctors have said many times that if it wasn’t for his great physical physique, Ron would not be recovering right now. Ron gives all the credit to the sport of wrestling,” Norley said. “Mental toughness, pushing through pain, finding comfort outside your comfort zone, work ethic and most importantly, believing in yourself, all things taught to Ron through the sport of wrestling that are at this time saving his life as he knows it.”

The benefit includes a horseshoe tournament, a barbeque chicken dinner, a DJ and or/ live band, Chinese auction, 50/50 raffle and more. Tickets are $30 to compete in the horseshoe tournament, $20 for the Bird and Beer feast or $35 to be included in both of the events. Feast tickets for non-competitors are $30 each.
