U.S. captures Greco-Roman team title at 2013 FILA Cadet Pan American Championships

Seven United States wrestlers won gold at the 2013 FILA Cadet Greco-Roman Pan American Championships, pacing the USA to the team title Friday, August 9 in Medellin, Colombia. The USA finished with 92 team points beating out Venezuela, 73, and Colombia, 69.

2013 Fargo double champions Daton Fix and Mason Manville won titles at 50 kg and 69 kg respectively.

Christian Jenco at 100 kg, Kaden Gfeller at 42 kg, Paul Bianchi at 46 kg, Kaid Brock at 54 kg and Robert Steveson at 85 kg also won weight class titles for the USA.

“I was greatly impressed by the determination and technical skill demonstrated by each of our athletes,” team leader Matt Hampton said. “The guys really took advantage of their initial experience in international competition. They wrestled with great national pride and once the momentum was established the result was Team USA being well represented in the finals.”

Brooks Robinson at 76 kg and Myles Amine at 63 kg won silver medals for the USA and Christopher Moreno placed seventh at 58 kg.
