Final five U.S. freestylers weigh in and get draws for Sunday at Cadet Worlds in Serbia

ZRENJANIN, Serbia – The last five U.S. freestyle wrestlers have weighed in and received their draws for the final day of competition at the Cadet World Championships on Sunday.

California standout Aaron Pico will wrestle at 63 kg/138.75 lbs., opening against Adilbek Osmonaliev of Kyrgyzstan.

Pico won three freestyle national titles this year, including the FILA Cadet Nationals in Akron, Ohio, the FILA Junior Nationals in Las Vegas, Nev. and the Junior Nationals in Fargo, N.D.

2013 Junior National champion Bo Nickal of Texas will wrestle 76 kg/167.5 lbs. and will open against Takashi Ishiguro of Japan.

Lance Benick of Minnesota will wrestle at 100 kg/220 lbs., and has drawn Eren Dursun Turan of Turkey, the 2013 European Cadet champion.

Benick won four national events this year, including the FILA Cadet Nationals, the Junior Folkstyle Nationals and the Cadet Nationals in both Greco-Roman and freestyle.

Stevan Micic of Indiana will compete at 54 kg/119 lbs. and opens with Nematdin Rahmanov of Azerbaijan. Micic’s family is of Serbian decent.

Competing at 46 kg/104.25 lbs. is Devin Brown of Pennsylvania, who will wrestle Balasz Egyed (Hungary), who was seventh in the 2013 European Championships.

“It’s a big day. I am hungry for some medals and I know they are too. Hopefully, they saw what happened today and will reiterate some of the things we talked about in camp with coaches Mark Perry, Jamill Kelly and I about tactics and strategies. You have to step on the mat ready to fight. The guys we have tomorrow, Devin Brown, Stevan Micic, Aaron Pico, Bo Nickal and Lance Benick, if they step on the mat ready to fight and are willing to take what we can, then they will be in a good position to succeed,” said Assistant National Freestyle Coach Bill Zadick.
