Stravino Departs Citadel Wrestling Program

CHARLESTON, SC -- Willie Stravino, an assistant wrestling coach at The Citadel for the past year, has departed the program to pursue teaching and coaching opportunities in Northern Virginia, announced Monday by Bulldog head coach Rob Hjerling. "We will miss Coach Stravino greatly," Hjerling said. "He was my first choice for an assistant coach a year ago and did an outstanding job during his stay at The Citadel. We wish him well in his future endeavors." Stravino is a 1996 graduate of George Mason University where he was a two-time Colonial Athletic Association champion in the 134-pound weight class and a three-time NCAA Championships participant. "The past year has been a great experience for me and I'm looking forward to watching The Citadel wrestling program take off," Stravino said. "I will certainly miss the members of the program and the work ethic each one of them possesses. Coach Hjerling is an amazing coach and recruiter, and I have learned a great deal from him."
