Tony Robie Named to the Michigan Wrestling Staff



ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan has announced that Tony Robie will be join the wrestling coaching staff as head coach Joe McFarland's second assistant. Robie will be replacing Sean Bormet, who left after a year with the Wolverines to pursue business ventures in the Chicago Area. "I'm real excited to have Tony come to Michigan," said McFarland. "He's had success at every level of wrestling and his knowledge of the sport will be beneficial to our squad. Tony will be a great role model for our guys in the program." Robie comes to Michigan after spending last season with his alma mater, Edinboro University, and a year on the West Virginia coaching staff during the 1998-99 season. An accomplished collegiate wrestler, Robie was a two-time All-American (1995, '97) and a 1997 NCAA finalist at 158 pounds for Edinboro, where he finished fourth on the all-time victories (124) list. National, he won the 1998 bronze medal at the U.S. Open and was ranked fourth at the 1998 World Team Trials. Robie graduated from Edinboro in 1997 with a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice. He is married to wife, Jennifer. The Wolverines will begin their 2000-01 season on Nov. 4 at the Eastern Michigan Open in Ypsilanti.
