Jack Holloway named NWCA High School Coach of the Year



JACK HOLLOWAY NAMED NWCA HIGH SCHOOL COACH OF THE YEAR Jack Holloway of New Castle, Delaware has been named High School Coach of the Year by the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA). The award was announced at the NWCA awards banquet in Dallas, Texas June 21. Holloway serves as Athletic Director and head wrestling coach at William Penn High School in New Castle. In February 2000, he lead his team to its seventh state championship victory in 12 years. William Penn produced eight place-winners at the state tournament including four champions, two third-place finishers, one fourth-place finisher and one fifth-place finisher. Senior Greg Quailes won his third prep crown at 119 pounds and was named 2000 Delaware Wrestler of the Year. Penn finished its 2000 season undefeated with a dual meet record of 16-0. In his 24 years of coaching at William Penn, Holloway has produced 39 state champions, five NCAA Div. I qualifiers, one NCAA Div. I finalist and one U.S. Olympic team alternate. Holloway holds a career coaching record of 284-34. Prior to his tenure at William Penn, he served as a middle school wrestling coach for six years. Holloway has also served as an NWCA regional representative since 1991.
