Penn State adds three more wrestling recruits

University Park, Pa., July 13, 2000 - Penn State wrestling coach Troy Sunderland announced the addition of three more athletes to an already stellar recruiting class Monday. The three additions bolster a strong 2000 recruiting class for the Nittany Lion wrestling program. Joining the Penn State program will be Derek Coombs (Ballwin, Md.), John Krulock (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) and Josh Walker (Lancaster, Pa.). Coombs is a transfer from Meremack Junior College in St. Louis, Mo. He did not compete last season due to a knee injury, but was a two-time Vermont state runner-up at Middlebury Union High School. Coombs also placed seventh at the High School Nationals and is expected to compete at 133 or 141 pounds for Penn State. Krulock was a two-time state qualifier at Mechanicsburg Area High and is currently preparing to compete in the Junior Nationals in Fargo, N.D., at the end of July. He won a Greco-Roman state title in 1998 and is expected to compete at 141 or 149 pounds for Penn State. Walker is a former state qualifier from Lampeter Strasburg High. At 6-4 and expected to compete at 197 pounds or heavyweight for Penn State, he is just beginning to mature physically and brings a tremendous work ethic with him.
