McMann wins gold medal, White and Edwards claim silver medals at Clansman International in Canada, N



Sara McMann (Lock Haven, Pa./Sunkist Kids) claimed a gold medal in the women's division, the top U.S. performance at the 2000 Clansman International Tournament in Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada, Nov. 10-11. McMann, a member of the 2000 U.S. Women's World team, claimed the gold medal at 136.5 pounds after defeating Viola Aiken of Saskatoon, Canada in the finals. McMann was the top athlete in a weight class of nine entries. Winning a silver medal in the men's freestyle division were two members of the Boise State Univ. wrestling team: Kirk White (Boise, Idaho/Bronco WC) at 152 pounds and Cash Edwards (Boise, Idaho/Bronco WC) at 187.25 pounds. White was defeated by Zolton Hunyady of Guelph, Canada in the championship finals. White was a 1999 NCAA champion for Boise State, and is competing as a senior on the college level this year. Edwards was defeated in the finals by 2000 Canadian Olympian Justin Abdou of the Burnaby Mountain WC. Winning bronze medals from the United States were Katie Downing (Pendleton, Ind./UM-Morris) at 149.75 pounds in the women's division and Troy Hall (Forest Grove, Ore./Pacific Univ.) at 152 pounds in the men's division.
