Broken Arrow of Oklahoma in first place after first day at Reno Tournament of Champions



RENO, Nev. - After three championship rounds at the sixth-annual Reno Tournament of Champions seventh-ranked Broken Arrow, Okla. leads with 102.5 team points at the Reno Livestock and Events Center. Green River, Wyo., currently ranked 17th nationally is in second place with 100 points, while No. 2 Easton, Pa. follows in third with 96.5 points. Fourth place spot is held by Poway, Calif, with 95 points with sixth-ranked Calvary Chapel in fifth with 89.5 points Defending 112-pound champ Tom Clum of Pomona, Calif., has moved up to 125 pounds in 2000-01 and has looked impressive advancing to the quarterfinals with two pins and a 13-5 major decision over Nate Lingle of Bellefonte, Pa. At 119 pounds, top-ranked Jacob Palomino of Independence, Calif. Has advanced into the quarterfinals with three falls, the quickest coming in just :20 seconds. Palomino, the only freshman to win a state championship in California, was a runner-up at 112 pounds in last yearıs Reno Tournament of Champions and a third-place finisher in 1998. Another runner-up from a year ago, Jake Rosholt of Sandpoint, Idaho has cruised into the semifinals at 189 pounds. Rosholt took second place at 171 pounds a year ago has picked up three falls so far this year.
