TULSA, Okla. – An electric first day of competition at the Air Force Special Warfare Junior National Duals has concluded with Pennsylvania Blue (Pool A), Missouri Blue (Pool B), Michigan Blue (Pool C) and California Blue (Pool D) each winning its respective group.

37 teams began the day in one of four preliminary pools, structured as traditional straight-line brackets. The top two teams from each preliminary pool advanced to the Gold/Silver bracket where they are guaranteed a top-eight finish and remain in contention for the first-place prize.

No. 1 overall seed Pennsylvania Blue brought home the Pool A title with three dual meet wins on Wednesday at Cox Business Convention Center. It edged a game Iowa squad, 37-31, in the Pool A first place match. Iowa solidified its place in the Gold/Silver bracket with a true-second place dual win over Wisconsin.

Missouri Blue looked the part of a title contender as it dominated the field in Pool B, including a 48-19 win over runner-up Arizona in the Pool B finals. Missouri Blue slotted in as the No. 2 overall seed entering the tournament.

Taking the top spot in Pool C was No. 3 overall seed Michigan Blue, which looked solid in three wins on the day. A 39-31 final against Colorado sent Michigan Blue to the Gold/Silver bracket. Colorado battled Florida in a true-second place dual, securing a 54-15 win to remain in the No. 2 spot for Pool C.

The No. 4 and No. 5 overall seeds advanced to the Gold/Silver bracket out of Pool D, albeit not in their seeded order. No. 5 California Blue squeaked by No. 4 Illinois by four points, 35-31, in the Pool D finals.

All told, six of the top eight seeds made it to the Gold/Silver bracket. No. 6 seed Texas Blue and No. 7 seed Oklahoma Red fell short of expectations in pool play.

Top performers of day one includes Mason Harsch of California Red, Katie Biscoglia of Iowa and Kennedy Perez of Michigan Red. Harsch picked up five pins in 6:55, the most of anyone in the tournament. Both Biscoglia and Perez earned four wins by technical fall to top the field.

Five teams logged 30 or more bonus point victories—Iowa (35), Missouri Blue (33), California Red (33), Colorado (32) and Georgia Blue (30).
