Olympic Wrestling Live Blog: Wednesday Session I: Parrish, Jacobson in preliminaries, Rau in repechage

This evening, the semifinals for Group 3 will be held at 6:15 p.m. local time. This will determine if Parrish gets pulled back into repechage. Starting at 7:30 p.m. will be the Group 2 finals, which will feature the 50 kg women’s freestyle gold medal match between Sarah Hildebrandt (USA) and Yuneylis Guzman Lopez (Cuba). Hildebrandt was scheduled to wrestle Vinesh of India in the finals, but Vinesh did not make weight. Guzman, who lost to Vinesh in the semifinals, was moved up by United World Wrestling into the finals match.

Komarov hits a double under toss for four points to lead 4-0. Jacobson hit with passivity, making it 5-0 for Komarov. Komarov gets a gut wrench, which officials score to make it 7-0. Another exposure attempt was not scored, so the Komarov corner challenged the call. The challenge was accepted, so the final score was 10-0, making it a technical fall.

Single leg takedown for Fujinami makes it 2-0. Fujinami secures a two-point exposure to lead 4-0. She stacks Parrish to her back and secures a fall in 2:05.

VINESH Vinesh (IND) failed second day weigh-in. According to the article 11 of the International Wrestling Rules, VINESH Vinesh (IND) will be replaced by the wrestler who lost against her in the Semifinal. Therefore, GUZMAN LOPEZ Yusneylis (CUB) will compete in the Final. Repechage SUSAKI Yui (JPN) vs. LIVACH Oksana (UKR) will become Bronze Medal Match.
Basically, Sarah Hildebrandt (USA) will wrestle Guzman instead of Vinesh in tonight's finals at 50 kg.

Rau hit with passivity, 1-0 for Dzhuzupbekov. Dzhuzupbekov hits a four-point lift and throw to lead 5-0. Another turn attempt goes out of bounds. The referees confer about it but no change. We go to the break, 5-0 for KGZ

Rau gets a point on passivity. He attempts a head pinch and Dzhuzupbekov commits a foul, for a caution and two, to make the score 5-3. On their feet, Rau forces a step out with 12 seconds left, 5-4. A Rau throw attempt is blocked for four in the final seconds, making it a 9-4 win for Dzhuzupbekov
