Each week as appropriate, USA Wrestling will post the results from women’s college open tournaments from the weekend. There were six more tournaments held across the nation during the first week of December. In addition, we add in the results from one tournament held over the Thanksgiving.
The two Opens this past weekend were the WASP Open in Virginia and the North Central Invitational in Illinois. Please note, there will be no Open tournaments this coming weekend.
WASP Open (at Emory & Henry)
Friday, December 13
Notes: NCAA No. 6 Presbyterian had four individual champions and won the team title with 185.5 points at the WASP Open in Virginia. NCAA No. 11 East Strousburg was second with 135 points and NAIA No. 6 Lindsey Wilson was third with 74.5 points. Presbyterian champions were Chiara Barbieri (103), Alyssa Mahan (124), May Cuyler (160) and Ella Beam (207). East Stroudsburg had one champion, Emily Klein (110), while Lindsay Wilson had a pair of champions, Kori Campbell (138) and Josselinne Campos (145). Jamesa Robinson of NAIA Brewton-Parker was the 117-pound champion. Competing unattached, Nile Jernigan, who is on the NAIA No. 4 University of the Cumberlands roster, was the champion at 180 and Iyanna Crawford of the Pembroke RTC won the title at 131.
