Carolina Moreno named USA Wrestling Athlete of the Week, presented by U.S. Air Force Special Warfare

Carolina Moreno has her arm raised after winning her quarterfinal match at the 2024 NAIA National Championships.
Carolina Moreno (Somerton, Ariz./Southern Oregon) has been named USA Wrestling Athlete of the Week, presented by U.S. Air Force Special Warfare, on December 18, 2024.
At the North Central College Invitational last weekend, NAIA No. 1 and three-time NAIA national champion Moreno of Southern Oregon defeated NCAA No. 1 Sara Sterner of North Central, 12-6, in the finals at 131 pounds.
Moreno’s record on the season improved to 13-0 with her successful title run at the tournament. The title is her third of the season, having won both the Spokane Open and Menlo Open at 131 pounds.
In 2023, Moreno placed fifth in women’s freestyle at the Senior level, and wrestled her way to a seventh-place finish at the 2023 Senior Nationals in Fort Worth, Texas.
