Loethen, Benjamin among four U.S. men to compete in Acapulco Beach Wrestling World Series, March 2-3

A delegation of four U.S. men’s Beach wrestlers will compete in the first Beach Wrestling World Series of the 2024 year, set for March 2-3 in Acapulco, Mexico.
The event will be held at the Scala Ocean Club in Acapulco. Two rounds of Group competition will be held on Saturday March 2, with the final round of Group competition on the morning of Sunday, March 3, with elimination rounds and finals on Sunday afternoon.
The U.S. team will be led by Ty Loethen of Missouri, who won a 2023 Beach World bronze medal at 80. His bronze medal was based upon points scored during the five-event Beach World Series last year. Loethen competed in four of the five Beach World Series events. He was fourth in Constanta, Romania, fifth in Singapore, and seventh in both Buenos Aires, Argentina and Mugla, Turkey.
Another experienced wrestler on the tour is Justin Benjamin of Illinois, who was ninth at 70 kg in the 2023 Beach World Series. Benjamin was also third at the 2023 U.S. Beach National Championships.
Rounding out the U.S. lineup is Mike Clark at 70 kg and Kyle Ferriter of Colorado at over 90 kg. Ferriter was a 2023 U.S. Beach Nationals champion at Over 90 kg.
The next stop on the 2024 Beach World Series will be in St. Laurent-Du-Var, France, June 28-29. The final three stops of the series for this year have yet to be finalized.
Acapulco is on the same time zone as the U.S. Central Time Zone.
