by Gary Abbott, USA Wrestling
The AAU has announced its semifinalists for the 94th Annual James E. Sullivan Award, and three world-class wrestlers have been nominated for the honor for this year: women’s freestyle stars Adeline Gray and Amit Elor and men’s freestyle star David Taylor.
The AAU Sullivan Award honors the most outstanding collegiate, Olympic or similar level athlete in the United States. It has been presented annually by the AAU since 1930. Based on the qualities of leadership, character, sportsmanship, and the ideals of amateurism, the AAU Sullivan Award goes far beyond athletic accomplishments and honors those who have shown strong moral character.
Gray, Elor and Taylor are among the 30 semifinalists from a variety of Olympic and collegiate sports.
Online voting has begun and will run through Wednesday, February 21 at 11:59 p.m. EST. Voters must select one of the 30 athletes from the list of semifinalists. You can vote once per day, every day through the deadline.
