Burroughs wins gold, Aiello takes silver at Yasar Dogu International in Turkey

ANATALYA, Turkey – Olympic champion and six-time World champion Jordan Burroughs won the gold medal at 74 kg at the Yasar Dogu International on Saturday.

Burroughs powered through his bracket with four victories. He stopped Murat E of Azerbaijan, 9-2, then beat Muhammed Halit Ozman of Turkey, 8-1 in the quarterfinals.Burrough stopped Orozobek Toktomambeto of Kyrgyzstan, 5-1 in the semifinal, then stopped Magomet Evloev of Tajikistan in finals

Winning a silver medal at 97 kg was Jay Aiello, who won his first three matches before falling in the finals to 2023 World champion Akhmed Tazhudinov of Bahrain in the finals.

Three U.S. wrestlers reached bronze medal bouts but were defeated in the meal round, placing fifth: Daniel DeShazer at 57 kg, two-time World medalist James Green at 65 kg and Kollin Moore at 97 kg.

The USA had 10 wrestlers competing on Saturday. Match result information is not available at this time but will be updated as received.

The competition concludes on Sunday, with the final five men’s freestyle weights (61 kg, 70 kg, 79 kg, 92 kg, 125 kg).  There will be four U.S. athletes competing in the last set of weights.
