Noble, Carder among double champions at Northern Plains Regional

ROCHESTER, Minn.- The USA Wrestling Regional Championships series continued last weekend with the Northern Plains Regional Championships, held at the UCR Fieldhouse, Rochester Technical & Community College Regional Sports Center in Rochester, Minnesota.

There were four double champions in the Junior boys division, athletes who won both freestyle and Greco-Roman titles: Trace Rial of Iowa at 100 pounds, Caleb Noble of Illinois at 113 pounds, Alex Braun of Minnesota at 144 pounds, and Micah Hach of South Dakota at 285 pounds. In the Junior girls division, there were two double champions in Addie Morse of Oklahoma at 110 pounds and Mackenzie Carder of Ohio at 120 pounds.

Double champions in the 16U Boys division included Hudson Chittum of Tennessee at 94 pounds, Hayden Schwab of Iowa at 106 pounds, Justis Jesuroga of Iowa at 138 pounds, Maximus Dhabolt of Iowa at 150 pounds, and Jt Smith of Nebraska at 175 pounds. Three competitors in the 16U Girls division won titles in both freestyle and Greco-Roman: Mackenzie Carder of Ohio at 118 pounds, Cassandra Gonzales of Minnesota at 148 pounds, and Olivia Hofrichter of Wisconsin at 155 pounds.

The top six boys and girls in each weight class of the Junior and 16U divisions have qualified for their respective state teams for the 2024 USMC Junior and 16U Nationals in Fargo, N.D.

There were also tournaments held in the 8U, 10U, 12U and 14U age divisions with both boys and girls competing in freestyle and Greco-Roman. Athletes that competed in the Northern Plains Regional Championships and meet the age group requirements are eligible for the 2024 Kid’s Nationals, held  at the ImOn Arena in Cedar Rapids, Iowa June 27-30, 2024.
