Women’s College Opens this past weekend: 10 tournaments kick off new season

Each week as appropriate, USA Wrestling will post the results from women’s college open tournaments from the weekend. It was a busy opening week of the U.S. women’s college season, with 10 events scattered around the USA and Canada. Included were the Luther Hill Open in Iowa, the Trojan Open in North Carolina, the Pointer Open in Wisconsin, the Maverick Open in Colorado, the TU Women’s Open in Ohio, the SFU Open in British Columbia, Canada, the Princeton Open in New Jersey, the East Stroudsburg Open in Pennsylvania, the Menlo Open in California and the McMaster Open in Ontario, Canada.

Luther Hill Open (Indianola IA)

Saturday, November 2

Notes: NCAA No. 2 Iowa was the dominant team in the Luther Hill Open, with six individual champions in the varsity division: Rianne Murphy (103), Ava Bayless (110), Skye Realin (131), Ella Schmit (145), Olympic silver medalist Kennedy Blades (160) and Naomi Simon (180). NAIA No. 8 Missouri Valley had a pair of champions, Serenity De La Garza (138) and  Kelani Corbett (207). Other individual champions were Caitlyn Jackson of NCAA No. 12 Lindenwood  (117), Catharine Campbell of NAIA No. 2 Grand View (124) and Kiara Boldridge of NJCAA No. 5 Southeast CC (235). Five other colleges had a single champion.  Olivia Shore of NCAA Otterbein (103), Grace Jones of NCAA Tiffin University (110), Leyna Rumpler of NCAA Baldwin Wallace (160), Suravieve Robertson of NCAA Bluefield State (207) plus unattached Trinity Howard from NCAA West Liberty (124). Shore was an NCWWC national champion for Tiffin in 2022. The final champion was Carleigh Czerneski (117), who is on the roster of NCAA Adrian College.
