Women’s College Opens this past weekend: Albion, Blue Hose, Millersville, Mike Clock and Mile High Opens held

Each week as appropriate, USA Wrestling will post the results from women’s college open tournaments from the weekend. There were five more tournaments held across the nation during the third weekend of the season.
This past weekend’s tournaments were the Albion Open in Michigan, the Blue Hose Challenge in South Carolina, the Millersville Open in Pennsylvania, the Mike Clock Open in Oregon and the Mile High Open in Arizona.
Albion Open (at Albion)
Sunday, November 17
Notes: NCAA No. 4 Grand Valley State had a strong performance at the Albion Open, with four individual champions: Ana Malovich (117), Hannah Palise (131), Elleni Johnson (145) and Aaliyah Grandberry (207). Johnson defeated teammate Skylar Little Soldier in the finals. NAIA No. 10 Indana Tech had three champions. Makayla Young (103), Tehani Soares (110) and Rose Kaplan (124). Bo Geibe, an Indiana Tech wrestler competing unattached, won the 160-pound title. The other champions were Madison Small of NCAA Trine (138) and Abbie Miles of NCAA Albion (180)

Blue Hose Challenge (at Presbyterian)
Sunday, November 17
Notes: Host Presbyterian, the No. 6 ranked team in the NCAA, dominated their Blue Hose Challenge with eight individual champion and the team title, almost tripling the second place team in points. Presbyterian champions were Chloe Dearwester (110), Alyssa Mahan (124), Cassia Zammit (131), Carina Giangeruso (138), Paige Wehrmeister (145), May Cuyler (160), Lexi Fornshell (180) and Maria Aiono (207). Wehrmeister, Cuyler and Fornshell defeated teammates in the finals. Callie Payton of NAIA No. 17 Lindsey Wilson was the champion at 117. Unattached Alyssa Quezaire, who is on the NAIA No. 2 Life roster, claimed the title at 103. Presbyterian won the title with 303.5 points, Life in second with 110.5 points and Lindsey Wilson was third with 83.5 points.

Notes: The big story from the Millersville Open was that nationally ranked high school stars won individual titles, Jaclyn Bouzakis of Pennsylvania (103), Sarissa Tucker of Virginia (110), Alexandra Ford of Maryland (138) and Kaylie Hall of West Virginia (180). NCAA Alvernia had a pair of champions, Kylie Monroe (145) and Peyton Fries (207). Four other champions came from NCAA programs, Josey Wehr of Delaware Valley (117), Liliana Zaku-Ramos of Felician University (124), Alaina Stanford (Cedar Crest College (131) and Trinity Barrus (Bethany College (160). Team scores were kept, with Delaware Valley on top with 71.5 points, Alvernia next with 67.5 and Cedar Crest in third with 56. There were 17 teams represented.

Rodriguez, a 2024 NAIA national champion, won a U20 World title for Team USA this past summer. NAIA Westcliff had two champions, Kyree Rubio (207) and Fernanda Canedo (235). Rachel Jones of NJCAA No. 4 Snow College was the 110-pound champion. Two athletes from club programs at NCAA schools claimed titles, SaVannah Cosme of the Arizona State club (145) and Wyvonnie Fletcher of the UNLV club (180). High school star Jacianna Beltran of Valiant College Prep (117) was the other individual champion.
