Two athletes have elected to compete at the 2024 U23 World Championships in Tirana, Albania, held October 21-27.
John Wiley, the 2024 U23 Nationals runner-up at 70 kg, has elected to fill the position on the U23 Men’s freestyle World Team. Wiley, a sophomore at the University of Oklahoma, will compete in his first international tournament following strong finishes at events across the nation. He is also a two-time 16U Nationals champion, winning titles in both freestyle and Greco-Roman in 2019.
In Greco-Roman, KJ Miley will compete at 130 kg in Albania. Earlier this year, Miley clinched the 130 kg U23 National title and represented the U.S. at the U23 Pan American Championships in Rionegro, Colombia, where he secured gold. Miley is a redshirt sophomore at Little Rock and will be making his World Championships debut next week.
Iowa States's Paniro Johnson, the 2024 U23 Nationals champion at 70 kg, and 130 kg Senior National Team member Aden Attao are unable to compete in Albania.
The 2024 U23 World Championships begin on October 21 at the Sports Hall “Feti Borova” in Tirana, Albania. The tournament begins with Greco-Roman action, followed by Women’s freestyle, and will conclude with Men’s freestyle. To view a full schedule of the event, visit the UWW website.
