For the second straight year, Eliana Bommarito of the United States has been declared the World Champion at Over 70 kg in women’s Beach Wrestling, based upon the results of the five 2024 UWW Beach World Series events.

Bommarito, who hails from Brighton, Mich., clinched her second World Champion honors after winning a gold medal in the Beach World Series Final, held in Porec, Croatia this past weekend. She is the only U.S. athlete to win a Senior Beach World gold medal, having won her first gold medal in 2023.

Bommarito competed in four 2024 Beach World Series events and won gold medals in all four of them. In addition to the gold in Porec, she won gold medals this year in Saint Laurent du Var (France), Timisoara (Romania) and Katerini-Pierria (Greece). Bommarito boasts six career Beach World Series individual golds, with titles in Turkey and Romania in 2023.

Winning a bronze medal at Over 90 kg in men’s Beach wrestling was Kyle Ferriter of Colorado Springs, Colo. Ferriter competed in all five 2024 Beach World Series events. He won an individual bronze medal at the 2024 Beach World Series event in France. In addition, Ferriter was fourth in Greece, fifth in Mexico, seventh in Croatia and ninth in Romania.

Ferriter became the second U.S. man to claim a Senior Beach World medal during the Beach World Series era, joining 2023 Beach World bronze medalist Ty Loethen of Columbia, Mo. (Men’s 80 kg).

There were 24 different U.S. wrestlers who appeared in the final Beach World Series rankings for 2024, including 12 in the top 10 of their weight class.

Just missing out on a 2024 Beach World medal was Justin Benjamin of St. Charles, Ill., who placed fourth at 70 kg among men. Benjamin won a gold medal at the 2024 Beach World Series in Acapulco, Mexico, becoming the first U.S. man to claim a gold medal at a Beach World Series event. He wrestled in all five Beach World Series events in 2024, also placing fifth in Romania, seventh in Croatia, eighth in Greece and eighth in France.

The other U.S. wrestlers in the top 10 of their weights were Mariah Anderson of Texas (No. 5 at 50 kg women), Gabriel Rangel of Illinois (No. 7 at Over 90 kg men), Valerie Carreon of Texas (No. 7 at 50 kg women), Ruben Calderon of Texas (No. 7 at 70 kg men), Bryan Coll of New York (No. 8 at 70 kg men), Olivia Pizano of Pennsylvania (No. 8 at 70 kg women), James Medeiros of California (No. 9 at 90 kg men), Rodrick Love of Illinois (No. 10 at 80 kg men) and Marilyn Garcia of California (No. 10 at 70 kg women).

The USA was among the most active nations on the 2024 Beach World Series tour. In addition to the impressive U.S. athletes who made it a successful season, USA Wrestling wishes to recognize the assigned coach for the team, Tim Box, along with volunteer leaders Ed Duncan and Rusty Davidson, for their commitment to the program. There were many other personal coaches, referees, medical staff and supporters to thank who helped Team USA this year and are important to the success and growth of Beach Wrestling in the United States.
