TIRANA, Albania – Macey Kilty advanced to the 65 kg bronze medal match in women’s freestyle on Wednesday morning at the 2024 Senior World Championships and is one win away from collecting her second Senior World medal.

Kilty took out 2019 World bronze medalist and Tokyo Olympian Elis Manolova of Azerbaijan 12-2 in the repechage round at Tirana’s Feti Borova Sports Hall. Kilty was the first to get on top and made the most of it, locking up a leg lace for four turns and finishing it off with an arm turk-claw finish.

In the bronze medal match, Kilty is paired against Individual Neutral Athlete Valeriia Dondupova Suvorova. Kilty defeated Dondupova Suvorova 10-0 in the opening round of last year’s World Championships held in Belgrade, Serbia.

Also wrestling in tonight’s medal round for the U.S. women are two-time age-group World champion Kylie Welker at 72 kg and first-time World Team member Areana Villaescusa at 55 kg. Both women are looking for their first Senior World medals and will go for bronze, Welker against 2022 World bronze medalist Alexandra Anghel of Romania and Villaescusa against Tatiana Debien of France.

The women’s freestyle medal matches will be held at 6 p.m. local time. For those planning to follow along live, Tirana, Albania, is located five hours ahead of U.S. Eastern Time.

Updated brackets and match-by-match results are available on UWW Arena. A live broadcast of the event is available for the U.S. market at FloWrestling.com.
