Hunter Garvin (North Liberty, Iowa/California Regional Training Center (CA RTC)) has been named the USA Wrestling Athlete of the Week, presented by U.S. Air Force Special Warfare, on April 16, 2025.

Garvin won two medals at the 2025 U23 Pan American Championships in Queretaro, Mexico, competing in both Greco-Roman and men’s freestyle. On Thursday, Garvin secured gold in Greco-Roman, going 4-0 with two technical falls, a pin and a decision.

In his final match, Garvin defeated Joenni Gomez Taquechel of Cuba, 8-5. He was awarded the Golden Boot for his performance, given to the most outstanding wrestler of the tournament.

On Saturday, Garvin competed in men’s freestyle, claiming a bronze medal at 74 kg. He went 3-1 on the day, with a pair of 10-0 technical falls and a win by injury default in the bronze medal match.

The gold and bronze medals from Queretaro are Garvin’s second and third U23 Pan American Championships medals, as he earned a gold medal in men’s freestyle in 2024.
