Woods concludes Greco-Roman action at 2025 Zagreb Open Ranking Event

ZAGREB, Croatia – Greco-Roman action continued on the fourth day of the 2025 Zagreb Open Ranking Event in Zagreb, Croatia. The United States had one competitor in the morning sessions.

To open his tournament at 87 kg, Spencer Woods faced Ivan Huklek of Croatia, who finished 5th at the 2020 Olympics and 3rd at the 2019 U23 Europeans. After a 1-0 lead for Huklek, Woods was hit with passivity and turned three times, bringing the score to 7-0 in favor of Huklek. Woods managed to score two step-out points, ending the first period at 7-2.

In the second period, Huklek extended his lead to 9-2. Woods attempted a late throw, ending up on the bottom to make it 11-2. After a challenge from the U.S. corner, Huklek secured two more points, ending the match with a 13-2 victory.

Huklek advanced but eventually lost in the quarterfinals, resulting in Woods being eliminated from the tournament.
