Georgetown Athletics is announcing the addition of Men’s & Women’s Wrestling as the 23rd and 24th varsity sports at Georgetown College.
Both the Men’s and Women’s programs plan to launch during the upcoming 2025-26 academic year. On the Women’s side, it is anticipated that the first season may serve as a developmental year with a focus on individual tournaments and fewer team/dual competitions. The final roster size & weight classes will help guide the 2025-26 competition schedule.
Home competitions will take place in the newly renovated Davis-Reid Alumni Gym. Georgetown College is actively exploring the creation of a new practice space in the coming months to support the needs of both programs.
Vice President for Athletics, Chris Oliver, spoke about the continued growth of Georgetown Athletics. “I am thrilled to announce the addition of these two programs to the Tiger athletic department. The quality and growth of high school wrestling within our footprint will provide us with a great opportunity to build high-quality programs on and off the mat,” Oliver said. “Adding Men’s & Women’s Wrestling will further enrich our campus community while allowing us to extend the Georgetown College mission to a new group of students. The Head Coaches for our programs will have a unique opportunity to help grow & develop Tiger Wrestling from scratch into something very special.”
The announcement comes on the heels of Georgetown Athletics also adding Esports for Fall 2025.
The search for wrestling head coaches will begin immediately. Those interested in Men’s Wrestling can fill out a questionnaire by clicking here. Women’s Wrestling prospects can fill out a questionnaire by clicking here.
More updates will come as the launch approaches.
