INDIANAPOLIS — The NCAA has released updated standings for the 2025 NCAA Wrestling Awards that will be awarded in March at the respective Division I, II and III Wrestling Championships.
The inaugural NCAA Wrestling Awards were presented at the 2012 wrestling championships. The three awards, given in each division, honor the Most Dominant Wrestler as well as the student-athletes that have accumulated the most falls and the most technical falls throughout the course of the regular and postseasons.
For falls and tech falls to be counted for the awards they must come against opponents in the same division (i.e. Division II vs. Division II). Ties in the two categories are broken based on the aggregate time.
Lehigh’s 149-pounder Kelvin Griffin currently paces Division I with 15 falls in 45:31 on the season. Brian Soldano of Rutgers at 184-pounds and heavyweight Daulton Mayer of Bellarmine round out the top three in double digits with 12 and 10, respectively.
In Division II, Newman’s Caleb Wunsch leads the way with 12 falls out of the heavyweight class. Findlay’s heavyweight Giulian Bodiu and King (Tennessee) 165-pounder Trent Mahoney each have nine.
Leading out of Division III, Castleton heavyweight Alaq Dowd-Grant has earned 18 falls in 39:12. Fellow heavyweight Braeden Fluke of Averett trails by just one with 17.
In Division I tech falls Purdue’s 125-pounder Matt Ramos leads the way with 11 in 51:51. Penn State’s Mitchell Mesenbrink at 165-pounds trails by one at 10.
Isham Peace of Lander and Max Ramberg of Augustana (South Dakota) are out front in Division II with eight tech falls on the season. Wisconsin-Parkside’s Shane Corrigan is close behind with seven.
Division III highlights include a close race early with SUNY Oneonta’s 159-pound Avery Leonard and Johnson & Wales (Providence) 125-pound Joziah Fry tied with 15 tech falls. Angelo Centrone of SUNY Cortland comes in with 14 and NYU’s Cooper Pontelandolfo sits at 13.
The initial Most Dominant Wrestler standings will be released later this season to allow wrestlers to achieve the minimum number of matches required to be eligible for the standings.
