Michael Beard (Lehigh) hand raise at the 2025 EIWA Championships in Bethlehem, Pa.
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The 121st EIWA Championships started on Friday morning in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Athletes from 12 teams began their quest to earn a pre-allocation for this year’s NCAA DI National Championships in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Lehigh leads the team race after the first day of action with 120 points. Finalists for the Mountain Hawks are Sheldon Seymour (125), Malyke Hines (149), Logan Rozynski (157), Caden Rogers (165), Michael Beard (197) and Owen Trephan (285).
This is both Hines and Beard’s second trip to the finals. Beard won the EIWA title in 2024, and Hines won in 2021. Trephan is set to wrestle for his third conference title, having won two ACC championships while competing for NC State.
Bucknell sits in second place after day one, with four finalists: Kurt Phipps (133), Dylan Chappell (141), Noah Mulvaney (165) and Dillon Bechtold (197). The final at 141 pounds is a repeat of last year’s championship match between Chappell and Navy’s Josh Koderhandt, with Koderhandt winning 12-2.
In third is Drexel with 93.5 points and two finalists. Kyle Waterman (133) and Luke Nichter (157) will wrestle for EIWA titles on Saturday. Army West Point (93) and Binghamton (90) round out the top five in the team race.
