Virginia Foard selected as USA Wrestling Athlete of the Week

Virginia Foard (Reva, Va./Wyoming Seminary) has been selected as USA Wrestling Athlete of the Week on March 29, 2022.
Foard competed overseas at the Tallinn Open in Tallinn, Estonia, last weekend, representing Wyoming Seminary.
Foard helped her team to an 8-5 dual victory over a European all-stars team with an 11-0 technical fall over Lithuania’s Kamile Sernauskaite at 50 kg on Saturday to begin her competition.
In Sunday’s individual tournament, Foard cruised through her bracket, defeating five opponents, all by technical fall, without surrendering a single point. She bested athletes from Hungary, France, Switzerland, Lithuania and Finland. Including her dual win, Foard outscored her competition, 66-0, over the weekend.

Each week USA Wrestling will select an Athlete of the Week based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling from youth programs through the senior level.
