Sabrina Nauss selected as USA Wrestling Athlete of the Week
by Taylor Gregorio, USA Wrestling
Sabrina Nauss (Brighton, Mich./Michigan Revolution WC) has been selected as USA Wrestling Athlete of the Week on July 25, 2022.
Nauss doubled up last week at the USMC Junior and 16U Nationals in Fargo, N.D., winning the Junior and 16U women’s freestyle national titles at 180 lbs. She sailed through both brackets with an 11-0 record over the week.
She started off in the 16U division with a 10-0 technical fall before rattling off four wins by pin, two of which she scored in less than one minute, for her first title of the week. Days later, Nauss opened her Junior tournament with back-to-back tech falls. Once again, she collected four-consecutive pins to secure another stop sign.
Overall, Nauss now owns three Fargo titles, adding to her 2021 16U national championship.
Each week USA Wrestling will select an Athlete of the Week based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling from youth programs through the senior level.
To nominate a wrestler for this honor please send the athlete's name, wrestling program, weekly accomplishments and career accolades to USA Wrestling Manager of Communications and Social Media Taylor Gregorio at tgregorio@usawrestling.org.
